Scope
This privacy policy applies to fallingforfame.com and the connected interactive documentary. This includes the homepage, athlete profiles, Findings page, project page, sport page, bachelor thesis PDF and embedded or linked media.
Data processed when visiting the website
When the website is accessed, technical access data may be processed by the hosting infrastructure. This may include the IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, visited page, and date and time of access.
Based on the current implementation, the website does not provide user accounts, registration, a newsletter or a contact form.
Purpose of processing
Technical data is processed to deliver the website, maintain security and stability, diagnose technical errors, present media content and publish the academic and documentary project.
Legal framework
The processing of personal data is governed primarily by the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection, including the revised FADP. For visitors from the European Economic Area, the GDPR may also apply.
Where the GDPR applies, technical processing is based in particular on legitimate interests in operating the website securely, reliably and stably. This privacy policy is not personalised legal advice.
Hosting and infrastructure
The website is hosted on Vercel. Vercel may process technical access and server-log data to deliver the website and secure the operation of its infrastructure.
Vercel uses global infrastructure. Data may therefore be processed outside Switzerland or the European Economic Area. The retention of infrastructure logs depends on Vercel's applicable settings and policies.
Cookies and local storage
No tracking or marketing cookies were identified in the website source code. The website uses browser storage only for technical or interface-related preferences.
- localStorage: falling-for-fame-mobile-notice-dismissed stores whether the mobile notice has been closed.
- sessionStorage: sport-safety-warning-accepted stores, for the current browser session, whether the safety notice on the sport page has been acknowledged.
- These preferences remain in the visitor's browser and are not used for profiling.
Analytics
The website uses Vercel Analytics to understand website usage through aggregated statistical information and to improve the operation of the project. Technical usage data such as visited pages, access times and information about the device or browser used may be processed.
Vercel Analytics is not used for personalised advertising. Further information about Vercel's data processing is available in Vercel's applicable privacy policies.
YouTube and embedded third-party media
Interview videos are embedded through the YouTube IFrame API. Based on the current implementation, the embedded player uses youtube-nocookie.com as its host; the IFrame API itself is loaded from youtube.com.
The video content is not presented as a permanently visible default iframe on first page load. It is loaded or played in connection with the use of the interview feature. When embedded YouTube content is loaded or played, technical information such as IP address and device information may be transmitted to Google or YouTube.
When visitors follow external links to platforms such as YouTube, Instagram, articles or other websites, the privacy policies of those providers apply.
Audio, video and image content
Interviews, athlete footage, photographs, audio recordings and quotations are editorial and documentary content of this project. The material is published on the basis of permissions, project agreements or applicable editorial rights.
People featured or quoted in the project may contact the responsible person if they have concerns about published material.
Bachelor thesis PDF
Opening or downloading the bachelor thesis PDF may create normal server-access logs. The website does not collect additional personal data merely because the PDF is opened or downloaded. Hosting-related technical logs may still apply.
Data sharing
Personal data may be processed by Vercel as the hosting provider. Google or YouTube may process data when embedded YouTube content is loaded or played. Other external platforms may process data when visitors follow external links.
Based on the current implementation, personal data is not sold and is not transferred to third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.
Retention
Technical logs are retained according to the hosting provider's settings and requirements. Direct email correspondence is retained only as long as necessary to handle the enquiry and meet applicable obligations.
Documentary content may remain publicly available as part of the project unless it is updated or removed.
Security
The website is delivered over HTTPS. Only limited personal data is processed. Reasonable technical and organisational measures are used to protect the website. Absolute security of data transmission over the internet cannot be guaranteed.
User rights
Where legally available, individuals may request access, correction, deletion, restriction of processing, object to processing and withdraw consent where processing relies on consent.
In Switzerland, the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC) is the competent supervisory authority. Depending on a visitor's location, other supervisory authorities may also be competent.
International data transfers
Vercel, YouTube, Google and linked external services may process data outside Switzerland or the European Economic Area. Such transfers are governed by the providers' respective contractual, privacy and security mechanisms.
No automated decision-making
The website does not use profiling or automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects for visitors.
Children
The website is not specifically directed at children and does not intentionally collect children's personal data through registrations, forms or accounts.
Changes to this privacy policy
This privacy policy may be updated when the website, services used or legal requirements change.
